01 — WHY REPAIR?

When replacement is not the only answer.

A failed electronic board can stop a much larger automation system from operating. For older vessels, the original replacement may be obsolete, unavailable or subject to long lead times.

Component-level diagnosis can provide another option. Instead of immediately replacing an entire assembly, the electronic board can first be inspected, diagnosed and assessed for repair feasibility.

05 — REPAIR OR REPLACE?

The right solution depends on the equipment.

REPAIR

Extend the life of existing equipment.

Repair can be a practical option when the equipment is obsolete, difficult to source, expensive to replace or closely integrated with the vessel’s existing system.

Where technically feasible, repairing the original board can reduce replacement cost, lead time and integration work.

REPLACEMENT

Modernise when repair is no longer practical.

If a board is beyond economical repair, lacks critical components or presents an unacceptable reliability risk, replacement or system modernization may be the better solution.
